Janet Matsuda, Senior Director Professional Graphics AMD
Bad question: Thus, no more separations? Ever.
Moore's diminishing Law: Software gets twice as slow every 18 months.
So in the end regarding effective speed we are running in place, though all are running on all sides at fast pace. Yes, Vista if 4 times bigger than XP. And 4 times slower. Moore kick in 2 cores in the meantime. Soon 4 cores to cope with software complexity.
Bad Hardware corollary: The only thing unbounded increasing are the bugs. Both, hardware and software.

Iran fired a new medium-range missile capable of striking Israel
Ahmadinejad said in his speech. "We say to the superpowers, 'Who of you dare to threaten the Iranian nation? Raise your hand!' But they all stand there with their hands behind their backs."
?? Nebulous. But, could that two stage rocket hit Intel's new fab Kiryat Gat? That would be a really big hit, if Israel first decide to hit Iranian nuclear program .

Dual-core Phenom, Calisto is June
This dual-core can achieve very high performance as it will have 7MB of total cache or 2x512KB L2 and massive 6MB of L3 and this one should give Intel’s Core 2 series a big headache especially with its price / performance ratio.

First CISCO router pic is given below the Next machine. EU originated email too. Though X25, does anyone still remember it?So what it later moved to USA? They made it simpler and faster to the bigger market.
EU wants 10Gbps optical Internet everywhere !?
Summary: This project will carry out a focused road-mapping study, with the aim of identifying promising routes forward in achieving the ambitious goals of Photonics21. The study will seek the solutions which show the most promise of cost effectiveness, are future proof (i.e. allowing bandwidth evolution and infrastructure reuse) and allow simple interfaces which can be standardized. The results of the study will be made available to UK industry in order to maximize the opportunities for the UK in the next stage of development,
Partners: Oclaro (lead), Ericsson, CIP, BT, Gooch and Housego, Cambridge University, Swansea University, Essex University, UCL.
BAD HARDWARE verdict: Chances? Well , do not expect it at your home so soon. In 1998 I used 28Kbps connection . In 2008 2 MBps. In 2018 probably 200Mbps. Of course by then 10 Gbps for companies might be a goal. Please note that single one optical core is able to carry up to 1000 10Gbps channels.

PR nightmare: Intel is facing with at least 82 separate class actions
BAD HARDWARE: What about purchase of one big lawyer company for its own cases? Now AMD proved that all we have payed illegally overblown prices for Intel processors by decades. What if now all customers sue? I mean Intel has $10B in cache ready to pay to all, so why not?

China has invented 'a secure computer OS'
"The project, known as Kylin, is supposed to keep the evil running dog imperialist pigs from stealing all those glorious technological secrets that have made China the centre of technological development."
BADHARDWARE: Wrong. Kylin is actually invented to protect China government from its own people . Not to be further protected from the China hackers like the USA Government is. :)

Atom screwed up Intel's mobile in Q1 !
This is not Intel's the worst trouble.
Perhaps more worryingly for Intel, IDC assesses that the cheap as chip Atoms represented 21 percent of its mobile PC processor shipments in the first quarter.
According to IDC, Intel held 77.3 percent share in Q1 2009 - losing 4.7 percent, while AMD held 22.3 percent, a gain of 4.6 percent. The only other X86 player is Via, which held a miniscule 0.4 percent share. In the desktop sector, Intel held 70 percent while AMD held 29.8 percent.
BADHARDWARE: Intel is currently superior only in mobiles, that Atom abruptly fucked up. Now it is superior in nothing.

Microsoft's Ballmer: The world borrowed too much money #%

Bill responded, with his voice filled with anguish and disappointment, "This is awful! This is nothing like the Hell I visited two weeks ago! I cant believe this is happening! What happened to that other place, with the beautiful beaches, the scantily-clad women playing in the water?"
"Well, that was just a Vista Beta, Heaven Edition," replied St. Peter.
BAD HARDWARE: What about military use of this intelligent search breakthrough ?
Joke: Military Computer
The US has succeeded in building a computer able to solve any strategic or tactical problem. Military leaders are assembled in front of the new machine and instructed to feed a difficult tactical problem into it. They describe a hypothetical situation to the computer and then ask the pivotal question: ATTACK OR RETREAT?
The computer hums away for an hour and then comes up with the answer: YES.
The generals look at each other, somewhat stupefied. Finally one of them submits a second request to the computer: YES WHAT?
Instantly, the computer responded: YES SIR.
