One deadly airplane crash each year

Thus airplane crash is a normal thing. I mean hardware inevitably crashes , right?

In May a Russian Sukhoi 30 MKI military jet crashed following a malfunction in the fly-by-wire system which could have sent the advanced fighter into an uncontrollable spin. In this case the system had quadruple redundancy which was supposed to stop all systems failing at once.
Two weeks ago 2 Russian Sukhoi-24 fell again.
Russia military aviation is thus still deadly dangerous. :(

Original Moon landing tapes found !!?

Thanks God USA flag wasn't blasted during the lift off !
Technology at the time meant Neil Armstrong’s film, recorded using a special lunar camera, went through a series of processes, each of which marked a step down in quality before it hit people’s living rooms.

From the moon, the signal was beamed to the Earth’s closest tracking station at the Parkes Observatory in Australia where, along with other important data, it was recorded on to high-grade magnetic tapes.

From there, the raw images were downsized to American television resolutions by a special scanner in Sydney, heavily compressed so they could be transmitted live, and then relayed to the US via the Intelsat III satellite.

The final loss in quality came when Nasa made its US recording of the event—the one always seen in archive footage—by simply placing a 16mm film camera in front of a television monitor in the US.

However, it is the original magnetic tapes recorded back at the Parkes Observatory in Australia that contained the unadulterated and highest quality images.

"Part of the problem was Cold War secrecy: Many key technological innovations of the space program were purposely destroyed so they would never fall into the wrong hands, but most of the loss can be attributed to more mundane issues, like poor record keeping, outdated storage systems, and mortality."

BAD HARDWARE: OK let me see them, before any further talk. Secrecy was a nice excuse in case of missing tapes in Watergate affair. Now, we have seems Moongate affair rising ?

I successfully upgraded to Win 7 RC from its Beta Release !

Steps:
1. Download Win 7 RC1 image from Microsoft
2. Burn ISO image on DVD
3. Copy all files from DVD to a new directory say C:\RC
4. Change file cversion.ini in C: directory sources, in part MinClient to 7.000
5. Save change
6. Run setup from hard disk C:/RC
7. Wait and wait and wait until it upgrade (up to 3 hours compared to some 20 minutes for Beta)
8. Enter password you got during the Win 7 RC download.
9. Run all your applications up to July 2010 and Win 7 SP1 announcement (if available by then)
10. Enjoy, because you are now saved before the August 1st Win7 Beta deadline.
11. Alas, Win 7 RC is much slower than Beta. Fixed Vista launched in the final marketing attack step?

Moon Lunatic

Aldrin suggests canceling NASA's troubled and increasingly costly Ares I, instead launching manned capsules on commercial Delta IV, Atlas V, and/or SpaceX Falcon 9 rockets. In the medium-term, NASA should return to the moon with an international consortium, with the ultimate goal of commercial lunar exploitation in mind. Aldrin's long term plan includes a 2018 comet flyby, a 2019 manned trip to a near-earth asteroid, a 2025 trip to the Martian moon Phobos, and one-way trips to colonize Mars.

BAD HARDWARE: Provided Aldrin have been at Moon ever, he should read more about his idea originality at Jules Verne 1867 science fiction: One-way trip to Moon.

Verne novel was really prophetic, with one real objection only: People were shot to the Moon by the huge canon from Pensacola. How Verne solved deadly acceleration problem for the people inside the giant space bullet that honestly resemble to Apollo capsule? Using giant springs, the same one that recently have been added to Ares 1! How they landed to the Moon? No landing at all, they simply stayed in Moon Orbit forever. Thus, Did Apollo ever landed, though it had at least in principle a rocket to do it? WHat was the surname one of the Verne astronauts? Adrien ! Well, that pretty resembles to Aldrin surname.

New chips don't deliver enough power, Facebook says

The latest generations of server processors from Intel and Advanced Micro Devices don't deliver the promised gains in performance, according to the head of technical operations at Facebook, a massive consumer of servers. Testing is another key to the operational success of Facebook, which has more than 200 million users and frequently introduces new features. Heiliger said the launch of Facebook's personalized usernames earlier this month went smoothly, despite an explosive response when it first went live, because of extensive testing of the new feature.

IBM researcher solves longstanding cryptographic challenge

An IBM researcher named Craig Gentry has solved a thorny mathematical problem in a unpublished doctorate that has confounded scientists since the invention of public-key encryption several decades ago. The breakthrough, called "privacy homomorphism," or "fully homomorphic encryption," makes possible the deep and unlimited analysis of encrypted information - data that has been intentionally scrambled - without sacrificing confidentiality.

BAD HARDWARE: Seems that public key encrypting got in the end literal meaning. :)
A Heaven for public surveillance.

No high income without computer

In California households with incomes of $80,000 or more, 97 percent use computers or have access to the Internet.
BAD HARDWARE: On the contrary, in poor Africa seems that only a 3% of people has computer or access to Internet. Is on a global scale lack of computer skills something that replaced colonial impact of illiteracy?

Snail mail computing

Customers frequenting city post offices often complaining of inefficiency and work moving at a slow pace. The staff, on the other hand, blames it on the lack of infrastructure, especially slow computers and power cuts that have become a regular feature in the summer season.

To combat this problem, postal authorities of Ludhiana had demanded 57 new computers from the Punjab Circle Office last year. Ironically, of the 56 new computers that arrived at the post offices about two months ago, only 20 were installed, that too only three days ago, while the remaining are yet to be made functional.

Why computers aren't desirable in medical industry?

The reason lies neither with cost nor with inadequate technology. Rather, the health-care industry's reluctance to digitize its records is rooted in a desire to keep medicine's lucrative business model hidden.

They might reveal malpractice.Isn't it?
Health-care information technology could save physicians' offices and hospitals more than $500 billion over 15 years thanks to improvements in safety and efficiency.

Moore's Law scaling pace might go flat after 2014

3D design is only what is left for something better than that.
"Historically, the focus in the semiconductor industry was always how quickly you could move to the next geometry node," Jelinek said. "Now the question is how to make money by sustaining a specific node."

H1N1 Virus had year 1918 a close relative in Spain

It turns out that the 1918 influenza pandemic was due to an H1N1 flu virus, and the current swine flu is also an H1N1 variant (but not exactly the same as the earlier one).
Spain flu killed then some 20M people.
Pigs might have spread the current strain of influenza to humans, attracting worldwide attention, but new Canadian-led research suggests that we might have given pigs the flu in the first place, during the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic.
The new virus isn't as deadly, because it lacks the genes that made the 1918 pandemic strain so lethal.
The CDC in the U.S. said on Friday the new strain is "a very unusual" combination of human genes and genes from swine and avian flu viruses found in North America, Asia and Europe.

Nokia Siemens Networks provided equipment to Iran last year

Nokia Siemens Networks provided equipment to Iran last year under the internationally recognized concept of "lawful intercept," said Mr. Roome. That relates to intercepting data for the purposes of combating terrorism, child pornography, drug trafficking and other criminal activities carried out online, a capability that most if not all telecom companies have, he said.

Anti Inflation ready dollar already banned !

USA Federal officials arrested Bernard von Nothaus as well as two other Evansville residents last week, alleging that they have distributed Liberty Dollar coins meant to resemble U.S. currency.
But Eickhoff, whose store is called the Red Ghost Gun Shop, stopped using the "private voluntary bartering system" about five years ago.The decision was purely economic; Eickhoff said he sold off his stock of Liberty Dollars when the prices of gold and silver climbed higher than he had seen in recent times.

Why Government hates Liberty dollar? Because it has obviously real value cover in silver and gold.

Real background behind Congo fears

AMD ‘Congo' Chip Glorifies Rape

Not only that idiot, but most major electronics companies in the United States do not know for sure where exactly the minerals in their products come from, and offer only bland reassurances that they too want their products to be conflict free. But as of yet, no major electronics company has fully traced their supply chain back to their mines of origin – the only way to ensure that when you and I buy a new mobile phone or PC, we are not fuelling flagrant human rights abuses.

BAD HARDWARE COMMENT: AMD Congo name simply associate to its diamond mines. Human victims there are simply collaterals associated with imperial games with diamonds.
However, about wrong use of OFFICIAL product name much better is suitable Intel's Xeon, directly associated with state inspired killing of thousands Palestinians on their own deserted lend , only to make enough space for Intel's new chip fabs there. Particularly, Intel's latest fab in Kiryat Gat is made on land freed by ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.

Moon is fainter and further. Again?

Obama's budget proposal would leave the US space program with "a four or five year gap with no American human-rated launch system and that would expand to six, seven, possibly eight years," said Nelson.

If NASA gets lucky, Garvin believes the first Apollo landing site images could be in hand by the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11, on July 20.
It is more difficult to tell a lunar rock from a terrestrial one than any other," says Colin Pillinger, a space scientist at the OU who worked on samples collected by the Apollo 11 astronauts.

Global warming is here to stay !

The U.S. Climate Change Science Program, a research project led by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, has published a new dramatic report on global climate change and the impact in the United States. It is the most dramatic report published by the U.S. government so far, indicating that the pace of global warming can be slowed, but not stopped or reversed. The advice is to better adjust to the effects of global warming.

Particles in the atmosphere will cool planet, but won't stop ocean acidification.
Emergency plans to counteract global warming by artificially shading the Earth from incoming sunlight might lower the planet’s temperature a few degrees, but such “geoengineering” solutions would do little to stop the acidification of the world oceans that threatens coral reefs and other marine life.

The European Union wants global average temperatures not to exceed 2 degrees above pre-industrial levels, although many see that target as being increasingly hard to meet.

Apollo 40 years later : Will LRO make a photo of landing site ?

Exactly 50 years later we might see Moon landing.
Unbelievably, 40 years later nobody cares. We should at least have a photo as a proof of that historic event.
In 2009 NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter will carry a powerful modern camera into low orbit over the Moon's surface. Its primary mission is not to photograph old Apollo landing sites, but it will photograph them, many times, providing the first recognizable images of Apollo relics since 1972.
Provided it happened at all. Otherwise, public ignorance is quite understandable.
Seems we will see only a slam of booster into Moon.
? Because, $40B Apollo mission wasn't able to install camera on Lunar module during the lift off.
Well, that would really convince me. Not landing was the real Apollo problem but actually lift off.
If fail no abort. And return. Pretty scary.

The moral about Microsoft antivirus Morro is ...?

It will help Win 7, but:

* Will Morro remain free forever?

* What user information will Microsoft gather with a Morro service?

* Will the service still protect when a user is not connected to the web?

* Will Microsoft keep the service as up to date as competing products?

* Will Morro be available for all Microsoft OSes?

* Will Morro noticeably impact performance?

World's financial system: What is the best way to fall down ?

Free EU Windows: EU shouldn't again swallow Microsoft's bait

In 2004 Microsoft responded to EU requests by selling its so-called N version of Windows for the same price as its full version, and consumers rejected the stripped-down system.

Now, EU don't want to be fooled again. However, what is the satisfactory solution for browser monopoly problem to Eu authorities? Windows effectively has 95% of world's market ! No to complete Windows ?
“Our focus in this case is that consumers should effectively have the chance to choose from an array of browsers,” a commission spokesman, Jonathan Todd, said. “The remedy with the ‘N’ version software didn’t work.”

BAD HARDWARE proposal: Why proprietary IE bundled Win 7 shouldn't be sold in EU more expensive then the liberated "browser agnostic" Win 7 version ? Than, people should love "IE8 free EU" Windows.
Or Microsoft should deliver standard browserless Win 7, only with small first browser download utility to the whole world. Then the users will decide.

However, Microsoft started humanitarian campaign feed "less hunger with IE8" worth $1M to prevent that.

The inside story of the Conficker worm

onficker also had an ingenious way of communicating with its creators. Every day, the worm came up with 250 meaningless strings of letters and attached a top-level domain name - a .com, .net, .org, .info or .biz - to the end of each to create a series of internet addresses, or URLs. Then the worm contacted these URLs. The worm's creators knew what each day's URLs would be, so they could register any one of them as a website at any time and leave new instructions for the worm there.

AMD's share of the microprocessor market nearly equaled the 12.9 percent it held in the first quarter of 2008

Meanwhile, Intel saw its share of the market slip 2.5 points to 79.1 percent, iSuppli said.

Vendor Q1 09 Q4 08 Q1 08 Q1 09> YoY
Intel 79.1% 81.6% 79% 2.5% 0.1%
AMD 12.8% 10.5% 12.9% 2.3% -0.1%
Other 8.1% 7.9% 8.1% 0.2% 0%
Total 100% 100% 100%

Both AMD and Intel suffered first quarter revenue declines due to the poor economic and market conditions, iSuppli noted. Those factors are expected to continue to hamper the global microprocessor business in 2009, with full-year revenue set to $28.6 billion, down 15.8 percent from $34 billion in 2008, the firm said.

Boeing allows you a choice to die from pilot's errors , not only from computer's ones like at Airbus

That's a great philosophical decision. Otherwise, bot companies had a similar safety record.
Pray break ?

BAD HARDWARE: I like the most this part : " Riding around on autopilot all the time pushing buttons does nothing to sharpen your hand flying skills for a possible situation like this when you will need it the most. I am simply appalled by the autopilot-dependent culture in many flight departments. "

IS THERE A PILOT IN THE AIRPLANE ? THOUGH IS ANYONE RESPONSIBLE FOR PEOPLE DEATHS ? Do automated systems help you to faster fly or faster die?

It's time the airline industry stopped treating passengers like children and began informing us of what airplanes we're flying on and how they're flown--and allowing us to decide how we're taking our lives in our hands.

Could a Computer Glitch Have Brought Down Air France 447?

On Wednesday, TIME revisited an October 2008 incident in which a Qantas Airbus 330 — the same model as AF447 — unexpectedly went into a brief yet harrowing 20-second nosedive, causing multiple injuries and requiring an emergency landing.
The ADIRU (Air Data Inertial Reference Units) and the ISIS (Integrated Standby Instruments System). These are key components in fly-by-wire systems, which use computers and wires instead of mechanics and hydraulics to control a plane's flight.
The Air France plane that crashed into the Atlantic this week was awaiting replacement of a speed sensor that investigators identified as a likely contributor to the accident.

The sensor, made by Thales SA, gave inconsistent readings on the speed of the Airbus A330 jet en route to Paris from Rio de Janeiro June 1. Airbus SAS had advised airlines more than a year ago to replace the sensors on A330 jets with models that are less vulnerable to ice, two people with knowledge of the matter said yesterday.
France’s chief crash investigator today told journalists at a briefing near Paris that the failure of the air sensor to convey reliable speed data may have kicked off the chain of events that led to the deaths of all 228 people aboard.

Space archaeology to support NASA forgeries: One giant lie for a mankind

Look at the Apollo 11 picture right. There is Earth in background but there are no stars behind ! That is impossible for camera to register. Even moreimpossible because camera is still able to shoot astrounaut in Lunar module shadow. What a NASA forgery !
Any professional photographer will tell you it cannot be done. Virtually every photo was a different scene or in a different place, requiring travel. As much as 30 miles travel was required to reach some of the photo sites. Extra care had to be taken shooting some stereo pairs and panoramas. Each picture was taken without a viewfinder, using manual camera settings, with no automatic metering, while wearing a bulky spacesuit and stiff clumsy gloves.

The agency wants the world to believe that 5771 photographs were taken in 4834 minutes! IF NOTHING BUT PHOTOGRAPHY HAD BEEN DONE, such a feat is clearly impossible...made even more so by all the documented activities of the astronauts. Imagine...1.19 photos every minute that men were on the Moon –- that's one picture every 50 SECONDS!

The secret NASA tried to hide has been discovered: The quantity of photos purporting to record the Apollo lunar EVAs could not have been taken on the Moon in such an impossible time frame. So why do these photos exist? How did these photos get made? Did ANY men go to the Moon? Or was it truly the greatest hoax ever?

The final frontier already has some historic sites -- such as Tranquility Base on the moon -- that deserve protection from well-meaning but potentially destructive private projects in outer space.
Provided Apollo 11 landing site exists at all.
Please notebelow shadows from astronaut and flag opposite directed. Flag is hit by wind !

Who would enforce law at Moon?
Which court is in charge for Moon sues?
Who will protect landing site: police or Moon Army ?.
Lunar police rover performance (Apollo 15 technology):
Weight: 200 kg; Could carry 490 kg of payload, including 2 astronauts, PLSS's, tools, equip't, & 27 kg of lunar samples each trip.Power was supplied by two 36 V silver zinc batteries with sufficient power for a range of 65 km at speeds up to 17 km/h.
Why NASA didn't sell this great technology able to pass 65km carrying 690kg for Earth use? Using the same capacity batteries from your car - 120Ah. For full range of 65km it will use thus 30A. At 36V it is 1KW. Thus, one KILOWATT ROVER IS ABLE TO DRIVE 690 kg? Perpetuum mobile is discovered at Moon !! Rover that is powered by the same amount of power as an ordinary home aspirator. Provided all the others rover power consuming devices are switched off. Why no one shot showed me a simultaneous falling feather and a hammer at Moon? They should fall with the same speed ,and I would be convinced. Unless the feather is not the golden one. At least for that particular Apollo mission.
Why to cheat at all? It is much cheaper, faster and safer. And all of that NASA needed desperately.
Introducing as a remedy a brand new trackless Moon rover below. Why trackless? Look ma, no tracks behind the wheels.

Fallen Airbus has had computer problems in the past !

According to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, investigators pinpointed a fault in one of the flight computer systems as a potential cause of the near disaster.

A navigation device used on the same type of plane recently malfunctioned on two flights, causing one to lose control. Though , it is not clear how computer could send the plane in fire noticed by some passing airliner. Thunderbolt is more likely.
