What a driver bug

UPDATE: Despite displaying that the graphics are powered by Haswell, this result is in fact using NVIDIA's GTX 780M

[IMPORTANT UPDATE: A potential driver bug has been discovered which rendered some, but not all, of the below benchmark results inaccurate by sporadically using NVIDIA's GTX 780M even when global settings are set to use Intel's HD Graphics 4600. I'm working with NVIDIA and Intel to narrow down the problem. Note that the results below are now current and accurate.]

NSA: We hack network backbones

Snowden believed there had been more than 61,000 NSA hacking operations globally, with hundreds of targets in Hong Kong and on the China mainland. “We hack network backbones – like huge internet routers, basically – that give us access to the communications of hundreds of thousands of computers without having to hack every single one,” he said.

PRISM Acucumulo merge with Microsoft and Facebook

Before the NSA released Accumulo, a search outfit called Powerset — now owned by Microsoft — built a platform called HBase, while social networking giant Facebook fashioned a similar platform dubbed Cassandra.
But at the same time, the bill orders the director of the NSA to work with outside organizations to merge the Accumulo security tools with alternative databases, specifically naming HBase and Cassandra.

No component of the Department of Defense may utilize the cloud computing database developed by the National Security Agency (NSA) called Accumulo after September 30, 2013, unless the Chief Information Officer of the Department of Defense certifies one of the following:
(A) That there are no viable commercial open source databases with extensive industry support (such as the Apache Foundation HBase and Cassandra databases) that have security features comparable to the Accumulo database that are considered essential by the Chief Information Officer for purposes of the certification under this paragraph.

The TAO of PRISM Whisteblowing

In recent years, TAO's collection operations have expanded from Fort Meade to some of the agency's most important listening posts in the United States. There are now mini-TAO units operating at the huge NSASIGINT intercept and processing centers at NSA Hawaii at Wahiawa on the island of Oahu.

PRISM whistle blower Snowden was positioned just there. Hacking against China.  So that is why he is now safe in Hong Kong. That is China vital national interest to know what that TAO unit know about China.

Britain had access to Prism since 2010

The papers also showed GCHQ, the UK's eavesdropping and security agency, had access to Prism since at least May 2010.
Whistleblower Snowden himself on topic.
But if the NSA Trusted Edward Snowden With Our Data, Why Should We Trust the NSA?
Oh, regarding trust among the US CEOs, 58 percent were 6 feet or over
In the United States, 14.5 percent of men are 6 feet or over.

Some 30 percent of the CEOs were 6'2" or taller
Only 3.9 percent of U.S. men are 6'2" or taller"

The President's Analyst

Part of the plot revolves around interaction of the government and the public with a large mythical monopoly that completely dominates the supply of telephone services in the US -- called, appropriately, "The Phone Company." Sound like anyone we knew in the 60s and early 70s?

The Soviet Surveillance States of America

In Theodore J. Flicker's prescient, darkly comical 1967 film -- "The President's Analyst" -- there's a bit of dialogue I've quoted many times over the decades. A Soviet spy and an American spy, friends of long standing, despite being on opposite sides, are working together informally. When the object of their common search appears to have been kidnapped right under their noses, the American spy suggests that the phone booth they'd been using was tapped.

The Russian is incredulous. "Are you trying to tell me that every phone in the country is tapped?" "That's what's in my head," replies the U.S. agent. "But Don! This is America, nor Russia!" exclaims the Russian.

99% BAD HARDWARE WEEK: Well, I don't agree with no need for overall spying in 1967. Who will then spy on terrorist like Marthin Luther King ?, as has been noted even before the PRISM project started. 17 years later is Orwell's famous 1984. Curiously, sfter another 17 years later is Clarke's Odyssey 2001. BUT ALAS, NOT ONLY HIS 2001.

PRISM 2013: All your Facebook,Microsoft, Google, Apple, Skype data are ours

U.S. mining data from 9 leading Internet firms; companies deny knowledge

NSA doesn't deny, but simply build new facilities for such vaste of data.
High Performance Computing Center 2 itself is size of  two football fields. Performance not revealed but probably order of 100-1000 PFlops clusters in 2016. Open stack based.
For comparison, Chinese 50 Pflops supercomputer has 10 times less footstep !
Taking in account technology improvements in the next few years, that means up to 1000 Pflops !
However, how will NSA get 10 times lower power consumption if it try at all, remains the mystery.

"As its current data collection makes headlines, the National Security Agency is continuing to expand its data storage and processing capabilities. The agency recently broke ground on an $860 million data center at Fort Meade, Maryland that will span more than 600,000 square feet. The project will provide additional IT capacity beyond the NSA's controversial Utah data center. The new facility will be supported by 60 megawatts of power and use both air-cooled and liquid-cooled equipment."

Two weeks ago at a conference in Washington, Alexander argued that the NSA has its hands full keeping tabs on potential terrorists and does not have the bandwidth to read the 420 billion e-mails generated by Americans daily. Some foreign governments are trying to do just that, he said.
