The British project is lead by Professor
Steve Furber at
Manchester University and involves collaborators from the universities of
Southampton,
Cambridge, and
Sheffield. The project started in 2005 and is currently funded until early 2014. The microchips were delivered in June 2011. Small networks have been tested. The full billion-neuron machine is due to be finished by the end of 2012.
