Woodcrest beats Opteron under some special conditions
1. Woodcrest is hypothetical processor, not available until November. But it is compared with real product DC Opteron 2,4Ghz, and not with some future
core revision F Opteron in socket 1207.
2. In that case, both processors will use the same FB-DIMM memory.
3. Without above conditions I agree that apples are 30% tastier then the oranges.
And Woodcrest is 30% faster then Opteron.
However, Woodrest is perhaps comparable
in integer performance under the special conditions, but in FP it is only notorious sucker,
because when cache miss happens Woodcrest will choke itself with its inferior remote memory controller.
