Intel prepares next year 6Ghz 65nm processor
Well, it was Intel's official standopint at Microprocessor Forum in 2002. : )
Of course, 3 years later, after the rise of Opteron, Intel has changed its opinion.
However, in 2002 P4 was everywhere girl, so nobody cared on AMD complains about its clock / performance. Anyway, in the end,we will get Intel's 2x 3Ghz dual cores. But, who would accept in 2002 the fact that Intel clock will not rise after next 5 years !?! Personally, I don't know even single source that has doubted in that moment. But, even if someone would even accidentally dared to contradict, might be easily announced as an antisemite, though , I frankly never grasped what Intel has in common with semitism??
After all, we get a fertile ground for one of the greatest blunders in 21st century, that has helped Intel to keep its shares value and public confidence until the new, relatively competitive processors emerge somewhere in 2006/7. And a brand new 45nm fab in Qiryat Gat in Israel in 2008, worth some hefty $3,5B.
