Truth on virtualization

You have heard so much on virtualization, you have so much plans about it, but,
DO YOU KNOW WHAT IS IT ACTUALLY? If you have Windows and you want second instance to run,
you will use virtualization ready hardware and voila , the problem is solved. Well, not. As you can see from link above at this moment open Xen doesn't support UNMODIFIED Windows as host OS even when Vanderpool is enabled in hardware. What is possible is actually to use Linux 2,6 as a host OS and then on Vanderpool hardware you can support UNMODIFIED Windows as a guest OS using Xen 3.0. But that is not what we expected and what has been told to us on Vanderpool support in hardware. Right, but you should think about it before you, not knowing, purchase your new virtualized hardware. Actually, you should wait for 2008/9 to see multiple OS guests at native Microsoft host. Project called Viridian will natively support 64-bit virtual machines.
