Sony recalls 440,000 notebook computers

Sony Corp., the world's second- largest maker of consumer electronics, recalled about 73,000 + notebook computers in the U. S. + 373000 in Japan, saying wiring or a dislodged screw in the notebook's hinge can lead to overheating, posing a burn risk.

Sony said the problem in the Vaio laptops, produced between May 2007 and July 2008, is related to irregularly positioned wires near the computer's hinge that can cause a short circuit and overheating. [ID:nN04439855]
