Global warming is here to stay !

The U.S. Climate Change Science Program, a research project led by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, has published a new dramatic report on global climate change and the impact in the United States. It is the most dramatic report published by the U.S. government so far, indicating that the pace of global warming can be slowed, but not stopped or reversed. The advice is to better adjust to the effects of global warming.

Particles in the atmosphere will cool planet, but won't stop ocean acidification.
Emergency plans to counteract global warming by artificially shading the Earth from incoming sunlight might lower the planet’s temperature a few degrees, but such “geoengineering” solutions would do little to stop the acidification of the world oceans that threatens coral reefs and other marine life.

The European Union wants global average temperatures not to exceed 2 degrees above pre-industrial levels, although many see that target as being increasingly hard to meet.
